On September 16 NAFFS President Arthur Curran and Dr. Joanne Curran-Celantano presented Alyssa M. Kelley of the University of New Hampshire a $2,500 scholarship award from NAFFS eighth annual scholarship awards program. Alyssa is a sophomore Nutritional Science and University honors student who intends to get her Ph.D. in Food Science after she graduates.
On September 26 Patrick Imburgia, West Coast Scholarship Chair, presented the West Coast scholarship awards of $1,250 each to Sabrina Davis and Brendan Wong from Chapman University.
NAFFS East Coast Scholarship Chairman Al Roth, Executive Director Bob Bauer and Associate Director Diane Davis presented NAFFS’ eighth annual scholarship awards on September 30 to two deserving students in the Rutgers University Food Science Program. Dr. Karl Matthews, Undergraduate Program Director, Dr. Kit Yam, Professor/Graduate Director and Dr. Mukund Karwe, Chair, Department of Food Science, were also on hand to congratulate the students. Two $1,250 awards were presented to Graduate Student Chang Liu and undergraduate Jessica Louis.
An awards presentation to Michigan State undergraduate students Edward Szczygiel and Ryann Gustafson is scheduled to take place on November 1. Mid-West chair John Weaver will present the awards.
